This painting comes from a Dialogue with my husband, in our dialogue we talked about his childhood, challenges he faced as a young black boy, where he was often taken advantage of, bullied, and was jumped because of his race. We discussed the loss of his father, and his strong spiritual connection with his ancestors. The title of this piece translates as “Metamorphosis: Between the sky and the sea” - for me this piece is about a body and soul that travels and along the way finds out that it is on the path that one transforms and finds themself, not at the final destination. Without being present on your journey, it is not possible to align yourself with your destiny.
